Feuerwache Bad Bramstedt

Our holistic competition entry for the new construction of a circular fire station in Bad Bramstedt. The building is designed to be as simple and pure as possible, with a circular design that enables the recycling of used materials.

Several cubes combine to form a coherent structure. Each of these cubes accommodates a specific use that defines the materiality, construction and surface. Functional areas such as the vehicle hall are planned as cubes made of recycled concrete, which is obtained from the demolition of the existing building. In the social areas for the firefighters, natural materials such as wood and cork create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The building is designed to be as simple and clean as possible. A circular design allows all materials to be recycled. The outdoor space is largely occupied by the required parking spaces, which is why the roof is used in the best possible way: as a sports roof, sun deck and roof garden. Outside, planting with wild shrubs and climatic trees ensures that rainwater is stored and micro-biotopes are created.
