Three drinks are on the menu of scandinavian specialty coffee shop Törnqvist and are displayed in large relief letters on the wall. Three cubic counters floating in the middle of the room set the stage for the barista's work; thus each step can be followed from all sides - Törnqvist is designed around transparency. The composition of the room's elements encourages equal interaction between barista and guest. A reduced colour palette of white, black, shades of grey and wood and the minimalist look of the interior puts the spotlight on the coffee and its preparation.
Contrasting Materials
Each counter is made of two interlocking materials. Matt black mineral composite meets rough natural stone - a Bohus granite from the home of Marianne Törnqvist, the owner's grandmother. The precision of the preparation process determines the high level of detail in the design.
A blanc canvas for a true coffee experience.
All other elements of the room are strongly reduced in design. Pure shelving on the wall displays cups and beans as well as a number of plants - which provides the only colour accent in the room. In the back a delicate floor-to-ceiling wall shelf integrates an elevated seating area with bar stools.
“It's a fruit” is written in large letters on the shop's window front. From cherry to cup - highest appreciation for the raw material is firmly anchored in Törnqvist's philosophy.
